#1, Freedom of Speech/Press: Censorship by a Supreme Court Justice on school paper's interview of him...

Interesting that a Supreme Court Justice wanted the final word on what was to be printed (about him) in a school newspaper. Ironic, or sad?

this is my article about congress passing a law forbidding lawyers to give advice on bankruptcy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/02/us/02scotus.html
i chose this because this is a huge part in amendment 1- freedom of speech. and it is limiting peoples powers to get out of bankruptcy.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/15/us/15scotus.html
i chose this article because i dont think its right how police can sieze your property without warrants, only based on officials assertions.
I chose this article about the 8th Amendment;Cruel and unusual punishments; because it's saying how even if you commit a murder just a few hours before your 18th birthday you cannot be put to death for the crime.

http://ethicist.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/17/free-speech-and-the-former-domestic-terrorist/?scp=5&sq=Free%20Speech&st=cse
I chose this article because it showed the difference between free speech in 1789 versus how free speech is viewed today.
this is my article based on the people having the right to bear arms and it's for the second amendment... http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/18/5-arrested-in-shooting-of-bronx-bystander/?scp=5&sq=right%20to%20bear%20arms&st=cse
I chose this article becuase it kind of heres the part of the other side. The side of the innocent people that are hurt or killed in cross fire between people given the right to have a weapon and misuse the privlege
i read this article and it was kinda cool lot of info but check it out guys its kinda related to wat we were talking about in class
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/27/books/review/Bazelon-t.html
http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/30/sex-abortions-and-health-insurance/?scp=4&sq=amendment%2010&st=cse this article interested me be cause the title even though i agree with what it said
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/04/us/04brfs-DISPUTEOVERF_BRF.html?_r=1
the reason i picked this article is because i think it is wrong what the homeowners association is doing to this ww2 veteran telling him he can't have a flag pole in his front yard.
this is my article on a judge banning a liscense plate fo having a cross on it with the words believe on it
http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/11/i-believe-license-banned-by-judge/?scp=1&sq=amendment%20violations&st=cse
i chose this because its apart of ammentment1 in many ways. freedom of religion, speach and press. the judge banned it cause she said it was in violation of the first ammentment but yet she was the one holding it back
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/24/us/24bar.html?scp=1&sq=cruel%20and%20unusual%20punishment&st=cse
i chose this article, because though it seems to be said that it is proportioned punishment. who is to say that a crime who doesn't kill anyone should be punishable for life in prison no parole. to me and many others this is cruel and unusual punishment. i'm not ignorant to think there are not bad crimes out there, or even worse crimes that effect people more than death, which should be punishable but to be put with life and no chance of getting out from a childs mistake.
My article is about a 90-year old Medal of Honor winner being involved in a dispute with a neighborhood association that wants him to remove a flag pole from his front yard by Dec. 11 or face a lawsuite.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/04/us/04brfs-DISPUTEOVERF_BRF.html
I chose this article because first off, this man faught in World War II and the flag not only represents that, and whose all faught for our freedom, but it represents us as a whole. There are so many supporters standing by him, including the U.S Senator. By him doing this, it's a fine example of freedom of speech and him being snatched the right away without a choice.

Thought it was interesting that they'd criticize this lady for posting letters and opinions in a free speech paper
